Maine Lighthouse
Morning Sentinel
This fine feathered friend was recently sold and given as a gift from a brother to his sister, who loves roosters. She was thrilled to add it to her collection! We chose a burnt umber matt and rustic barnwood frame to make this piece look really great.
"Chief"
Inspired once again by the unique Arizona beauty, I painted this brightly colored Hummingbird against the stark, barren landscape. Somehow the contrast makes him look even more spectacular than he already does. My mother loves watching them feed throughout the year.
(Note the "Long Mountain " range behind him, echoed in the photo above where I sat painting last year.)

"Pondering"
The Barred Owl can be found in the deep woods of the east, especially in river valleys. These beautiful birds are remarkably tame, and should you happen upon them during the day, they usually allow you to come quite close.
I love the serene expression captured here, and I can see why so often owls are thought to be "wise".
They seem to be deep in thought, quiet and still, so I call this piece "Pondering".

"Hello Chickadee!"
This black capped chickadee brightened the snowy view outside my window today.
"Launch out into the deep"
Watercolor of a boat by the shores of a Finnish lake. The original of this piece was commissioned as a gift.
The focal point of this piece is the rendering of the traditional Scandinavian rowboat. Resting in tall grass on the shore of one of the countless lakes in this beautiful country, you can almost hear the gentle lapping of the water, and the approaching steps of the fisherman.
The shades of muted greens and a blue gray sky hint at the coolness in the air. Often called the "Land of a Thousand Lakes," this piece captures a glimpse of Scandinavia at its best!

"Bananaquit"
I painted this native bird from the Dominican Republic and presented it as a gift to the Dr. who cared for my parents for many years.

Great Point Lighthouse-Watercolor
This watercolor painting is of the Great Point Lighthouse on Nantucket Island. This piece was featured in November at a fund raising auction in Boston to benefit the VHL Family Alliance. I donated this original painting in honor of my nephew Alex Anderson , age 16, who is bravely battling this rare form of cancer.

This watercolor portrait of a young Scandinavian girl is one of my most popular pieces. Intricately detailed, the woolen cap and sweater seem to be painted with yarn instead of my brush. The subject's thoughtful pose draws the viewer into her dreamy world, making us wonder at the scene just beyond the frame. Watery impressions of the pine forest make a perfect backdrop for this exquisite portrait. I have produced this painting in several sizes and formats, including greeting cards.
Preview a few featured pages: Finely rendered pen and Ink sketches, classical watercolor illustrations, acrylic on stretched canvas, pencil portraits and colored pencil drawings- these are a few of the beautiful pieces you can see throughout this site.
